In Praise of Incrementalism

Jon and I sometimes get philosophical while we're stuck in traffic on our cascara delivery routes.  We recently listened to an episode of Freakonomics, "In Praise of Incrementalism".  It makes a compelling case that consistent practice and work yield results.

You may work for weeks, months, years, even decades, towards a single goal, seeing little progress.  Eventually, that progress will come.  We see it with athletes, with innovators, artists, anyone who is at the top of their game.  My favorite example is Kelly Slater, who has wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the craft of surfing.  Despite being old for the sport, he is still one of the best in the world.  Why?  He studies.  He works tirelessly.  He evolves.  And because of that, he is one of the best athletes of all time.

We've worked on bringing Nomad to more people for months now.  Tomorrow, we're launching in Whole Foods throughout New York City.  We'll be distributing with Rainforest.  That means fewer hours in traffic, and less time for Jon and me to debate these topics.

But, it means a whole lot more Nomad.  We're just getting started.
